How will someone prove he or she has a licence?

Your letter of approval is your evidence or proof of licence. You must show your evidence of licence if requested.

From 1st April 2010 all licensees will also have the option of being issued with a wallet sized plastic evidence of licence that contains an optional photo id. 

This plastic evidence of licence has the advantage of being convenient and durable.

When will I get my plastic evidence of licence?

If your application is approved, you will receive a letter and evidence of licence.  This letter will also contain information on how to obtain an optional plastic evidence of licence. You will need to go to an Automobile Association (AA) driver licence counter to obtain this.

Can I get a replacement plastic evidence of licence if I need to?

Yes you can.  Information on how to do this will be available from this website in April 2010.

How much does the plastic evidence of licence cost?

There is no charge for the plastic evidence of licence.

I was granted a licence by the Authority after 17 November 2009 - will I get a plastic evidence of licence?

Licensees who applied to the Authority and were granted a licence after 17 November 2009 will also have the option of being issued with a plastic evidence of licence.  You will receive a letter in April 2010 explaining how to obtain your plastic licence.  You will need to go to an Automobile Association (AA) driver licence counter to obtain this. 

Can companies get a plastic evidence of licence?

No they can't.  Companies will continue to receive a paper evidence of licence certificate.

What information is contained on the evidence of licence?

The licence document includes the name of the licensee, the class of licence (agent, branch manager or salesperson's licence) and the date of issue and expiry. Each licence will also have its own registration number, which will be recorded in the register and will be included on the licence document issued by the Registrar. The licence document will bear the Authority's seal.
