Individual fees and levies will be paid by each agent, branch manager and salesperson for each licence they hold.
All amounts shown are in New Zealand dollars and any refunds are at the discretion of the Authority.
How much does it cost to apply for a licence?
It costs $1,132.75 to apply for a licence. This is made up of:
Application fee $295.00
Operational levy $657.00
Disciplinary levy $33.00
Sub-total $985.00
GST $147.75
TOTAL $1,132.75
The application fee is a one-off charge for processing a new application. The two levies are annual charges to fund the costs of the Real Estate Agents Authority and the Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal.
If you are granted a licence you will be liable to pay both levies each year. The Registrar can cancel a licence if levies are not paid.
You must pay the application fee and levies when you apply for a new licence.

How much does it cost to renew a licence?
It costs $793.50 to renew your licence. This is made up of:
Operational levy: $657.00
Disciplinary levy: $33.00

These levies must be paid each year when you renew your licence. The Registrar can cancel a licence if levies are not paid.
The annual operational levy has been set by the Authority to recover costs arising from the functions of the Authority and the Registrar, including administering the regulatory and complaints regime. The oprational levy also includes the recovery of the establishment costs of the Authority and the Disciplinary Tribunal.
A disciplinary levy has been set to fund the costs of operating the Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal.
- The annual levies are payable on application for a new licence and on renewal of a licence.
- The levies are non-refundable.
- These levies apply to all classes of licence.
- There is no fee for annual renewal of a licence (just levies).

Pursuant to sections 20, 21 and 22 of the Real Estate Agents Act 2008, the following notice is given.
Notice
1. Title and commencement
a. This notice may be cited as the Real Estate Agents Authority (Fees and Levies) Notice 2010.
b. This notice comes into force on 1 January 2011 and applies to fees and levies from 1 January 2011.
2. Fees and Levies
The Real Estate Agents Authority sets the following fees and levies, payable to the Registrar or the Authority, specified in the attached Schedule.
3. No Refund
a. Fees and levies are non-refundable.
4. Tax
a. The fees and levies are exclusive of goods and services tax.
5. The Purpose
a. This notice is a Regulation for the purposes of the Regulations (Disallowance) Act 1989.
