About the Real Estate Agents Authority

The Real Estate Agents Authority is the regulatory body for the real estate industry. We provide both independent oversight of the industry and increased consumer protection.

We are a Crown entity, established under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008.

Our responsibilities are:

  • licensing of people and companies working in the real estate industry
  • maintaining a public register of licensees
  • investigating complaints
  • setting industry standards
  • providing information to consumers.

Our Board is made up of up to seven members, at least two members are required to be licensees or former licensees.
