Temporary Licence

The following persons are able to apply for permission to carry on or appoint some other person to carry on the licensee’s business as an agent for a period specified by the Registrar (section 62 of the Real Estate Agents Act 2008): 

  • in the case of a licensee who is a person subject to a property order under the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988, the manager of his or her estate; or
  • in the case of a licensee who is deceased, his or her personal representative; or
  • in the case of a licensee who has been adjudicated bankrupt, his or her assignee in bankruptcy; or
  • in the case of a licensee company that is in liquidation or receivership, the liquidator or receiver of that company, as the case may be; or
  • in the case of a licensee who is sick, absent, or is otherwise temporarily prevented from carrying on business as a real estate agent, his or her nominated representative; or
  • in the case of a licensee building society that is being dissolved, the liquidator or other person conducting its dissolution, or a trustee appointed under an instrument of dissolution of the building society.
