New tool to help buyers and sellers of property

Buyers and sellers of property have a new tool to help them through the buying and selling process.

"Buying or selling a property is the biggest financial transaction most people will ever be involved in” said Real Estate Agents Authority (REAA) Chief Executive, Kevin Lampen-Smith “so it is important that they find out as much about the buying and selling process as they can, before they start.”

“We have developed a guide for buyers and sellers that allows people to do just that - and get smart about the property buying and selling process”

“The guide fills a real gap for consumers as until now there has been little in the way of independent advice for buyers and sellers.  The guide provides information on key things you should know, agency and sale and purchase agreements, what to expect from your real estate agent and the different methods of buying and selling property” continued Mr Lampen-Smith.

“Part of our role is to protect buyers and sellers.  This guide arms consumers with information which will help protect them and help ensure that the buying and selling process goes smoothly.  We believe that the better prepared people are, the less likely they will need to make a complaint with us”.

The REAA is the independent government agency that regulates the New Zealand real estate industry. Our job is to promote a high standard of service and professionalism in the real estate industry and help protect buyers and sellers of property. We provide information for buyers and sellers, provide guidance for agents and deal with complaints about agents’ behaviour.
